Diabetes is one of Nigeria's fastest-growing health threats. The International Diabetes Federation estimates that about 3 million Nigerian adults were living with diabetes in 2024. A 2024 review of studies across Nigeria puts the true figure much higher, at about 1 in 14 adults, or roughly 8 million people. Many of them don't know they have it. Across Africa, about 3 in 4 adults with diabetes have never been diagnosed, the highest share of any region in the world. In 2024, diabetes caused an estimated 216,000 deaths in the region.

What your gift does

  • Every gift goes into one fund. Our partner clinics and dialysis centres tell us about patients who need care and can't pay. PayForMed reviews every request, then pays the clinic directly. Money never goes to an individual, and every payment is listed on this page, without naming the patient.
  • Give once, or give every month. Diabetes care is monthly, and so is a monthly gift: it helps keep patients on their treatment, month after month.

How the money is used

Partner clinics ask the fund to cover a patient who can't afford treatment. PayForMed reviews every request, then pays the clinic's invoice directly. Money never goes to an individual, and every payment is listed below without naming the patient.
