Cancer is one of Nigeria's deadliest and fastest-growing health challenges. In 2022 alone, about 127,700 people in Nigeria were diagnosed with cancer, and about 79,500 died from it. That means roughly six in ten people diagnosed that year died from the disease, one of the highest death rates relative to new cases anywhere in the world. The most common cancers are breast cancer (over 32,000 new cases a year), prostate cancer (about 18,000) and cervical cancer (about 13,700). Together they account for half of all new cases. Many of them can be treated, and some can be cured, especially when they're caught early.

What your gift does

  • Every gift goes into one fund. Our partner hospitals and cancer centres tell us about patients who need treatment and can't pay. PayForMed reviews every request, then pays the hospital directly. Money never goes to an individual, and every payment is listed on this page, without naming the patient.
  • Give once, or give every month. Monthly gifts let us keep patients in treatment from one cycle to the next, so no one has to stop halfway.

How the money is used

Partner clinics ask the fund to cover a patient who can't afford treatment. PayForMed reviews every request, then pays the clinic's invoice directly. Money never goes to an individual, and every payment is listed below without naming the patient.
